Falcon VT

The latest Falcon system designed specifically for the control of product application equipment in the field and for recording data. Falcon VT can be installed in the RoGator, Terra-Gator and Spra-Coupe application machines and is capable of handling up to seven functions at the same time.
All information and commands - from application rates to data logging - are displayed on a single, easy-to-read touch screen. Connected to the vehicle's systems via the CAN-BUS wiring network, Falcon VT operates by monitoring forward speeds and adjusting the flow of product to automatically match pre-determined application rates.
At the heart of the system is the Task Controller, where all operational data recording for each individual job takes place. If an application plan has been attached, using the memory card, the Task Controller communicates instructions to all the relevant operating systems, based on GPS information received from the antenna on the cab roof.
The most important function performed by Falcon VT is controlling whether the application is at a uniform or variable rate. When fitted on a multi-bin spreader, it controls the blend prescription, while the operator can also use the system to calibrate components, input job information and control application. The information recorded for individual tasks can then be used for future analysis using software such as the GTA Software, allowing more informed decision-making.
The console has an SD card slot to allow the transfer of data, application maps, etc, to the farm office PC. Conversely, in advance of an application being undertaken, an application map for each product being applied can be created by specific software in the office, which can then be transferred to the Falcon system using a memory card.
Liquid NMS (Nutrient Management System)
When applying liquid manure, the NMS monitors the amount of product being applied, adjusting the rate according to the vehicle’s forward speed.
Once the target rate has been set, Falcon VT monitors and displays the actual rate being applied. Every aspect of the process is controlled by this single system, including loading, agitating and return of part loads to the slave tank.
Dry NMS (+ weighing system)
When the vehicle is equipped with a dry NMS system, the Falcon VT and the optional weighing system, the actual load is weighed and the chain speed of the spreader adjusted accordingly.
The on-board weighing system works with four load cells, each with a capacity of 12,000kg. Via the Falcon VT system, the operator can monitor the application rate per hectare, based on vehicle speed, working width and weight reduction.
Alternative Methods of Application
Whatever the method of application – Airmax 1000 or 2000, one- or two-bin, spinner or sprayer – Falcon provides general application control through these different configurations, in line with individual customers’ requirements.
Central Tyre Inflation System
This useful option provides the ability to set two pre-determined tyre pressures within the system.
The operator can lower the pressure when in the field to create less soil compaction – thanks to a bigger footprint – and more traction. A press of the fast-acting button and the tyres inflate to the higher setting for more efficient transport. Front and rear tyre pressures can be set independently to take account of load and ground conditions. Upper and lower pressure parameters are factory set to avoid inadvertent over- or under-inflation.
DogWalk
An option on the Terra-Gator 2244 and 3244 is the DogWalk function – a means of off-setting the articulated rear axle to the left or right so that the rear wheels run alongside the tracks made by the front tyres, and only one tyre passes over each track.
All the operator has to do is press a left or right button on the FalconVT joystick. DogWalk has the effect of reducing both soil compaction and crop damage, resulting in more workable days and a wider working window.
